SECOND IMPORTANT NOTE: It's been nearly a day since John has disappeared, along with Logan. There are whispers and rumors floating around school that John has left for the Brotherhood again and Logan has followed to skewer him. Some people say they ran away together to fall in love and join the circus though. Keep it in mind!

[Kitty turns to face Bobby and prepares for the worst, but it doesn't come. There's relief first, followed quickly by pride for John. She knew the rumors couldn't be true, but this brings about a whole different set of worries. Worries like they could kill him if this doesn't go well, and those settle in pretty quickly - the fear probably shows on her face.] They were all saying he left again, but this - [She cuts herself off, taking in a steadying breath before sitting beside him on the bed. That's not what they need to be talking about right now. She runs through what Bobby's said in her mind, taking it all in. She knows Logan's more than capable, but against the Brotherhood? No, Emma's right about this, and Kitty's happy she chose Bobby to lead.] Of course I'm in. If things get messy, we get involved?

That's the idea. It's got to be completely undercover; Logan doesn't know anything about it. Emma will brief us soon.

[This is why he admires Kitty - when there's something that needs to be done, she does it, no complaints or hesitation. It was like that the first time, when they were leaving for Alcatraz, and it's been like that ever since. He knew he could count on her, and he finds he's relieved that she's going to be out there with him, one of his best and oldest friends.

And it's because she's one of his best and oldest friends that he allows himself a small moment of vulnerability. For all of his ability, for all of the confidence others have put in him, Bobby has long struggled with feeling good enough. And this mission... it's on his shoulders. He feels the weight of it now, an oppressive burden.

So he sighs and looks over at his friend with anxious eyes.]

I've never... this is big, Kitty. I don't know if I can...

[He trails off, and rubs a hand over his weary face.]

[Kitty doesn't blame Bobby for being worried - she is too, but he's leading the mission, a heavy weight to carry. But the thing is, she trusts him. Out of everyone in this place, she probably trusts him the most.] Listen - [She pauses, one hand coming up to rest on his shoulder. They've been through a lot in the past few years, and Kitty's seen how it's changed Bobby: it's made him stronger.] I know you. You're a leader, Bobby. I don't know if you can see it yet, but I can, and you will. [Kitty pauses, weighing her next words.] We'll get through this. All of us.

[Her confidence both unnerves and reassures him. To think that she's so sure that he can lead them through this is scary; he can't quite silence that niggling voice that asks What if I can't?. But there's comfort in her faith in him, as well, and so he gives her a small smile. Because maybe he can do this. And he knows he'll do anything to make sure they all come back safely.]

Yeah. We will. Thanks, Kitty.

[He takes a deep breath, savouring this one moment of peace. He knows that as soon as he leaves this room, as soon as he's got that suit on, he needs to be Iceman, not Bobby.]

Emma said she'd get in touch with us once I got the team together, so I'd better go prepare...
