[It's six a.m. and Kitty's on the mansion grounds, jogging in the cold. It's nice and quiet though, most likely the only peace she'll get all day. Feel free to break the calm if you like!]

[Ugh, Kitty's going to be regretting that donut she ate before DR practice, but it looked too damn good to pass up. To get her mind off the inevitable cramp, Kitty's stretching a bit before the real stuff begins.]

[Kitty's skipped lunch to bury herself in work, and will likely skip dinner too. She's supposed to be working on some Anatomy for her online class, but she got fidgety and finds herself in the science fiction. Well, there's always all-nighters! Reading something completely unrelated to her work is much more appealing right now.]

[It's early evening now and she's headed back to her room - through the walls, of course, what other way is there to travel? Cool for her, but unfortunate when Kitty comes flying out of a closed door and forgets to phase when she bumps into you. Sorry!]

[It's well past midnight now and Kitty's hanging in the rec room with her Anatomy work from earlier, textbook open but notebook blank. She's getting distracted by the Discovery Channel and a documentary about whales, which completely aides in her procrastination. There's still quite a few hours before it's morning again, so she's good...ish]

[Rogue's had Kitty phase through her before and honestly? She prefers the bumping instead. That doesn't mean she's not going to jump a bit in surprise.] Ow. Hey Kit.

Oof. [Bobby takes her by the shoulders to steady her, a smile on his face.]

Hey, you. I was just coming to find you. Feel like going ice skating?

[John's in the library. Yeah, it's weird. But this kid's got a lot of time on his hands between sleeping and doing nothing, and recently he's been reading a little. Yeah, it's really weird. Turns out Kevin has no taste in books. It's really, really dry, boring stuff to this pyromaniac right here.

So, he's in the library. And he's moseying on over to the science fiction section. That's interesting stuff, right?

He turns into an aisle, reading the back of the first novel in The Dresden Files. 'Cause this guy seems kind of kick-ass. Or whatever. His brow is furrowed a bit in confusion. Is this about wizards?]

[Kitty's strangely glad it's Rogue and pleased she didn't bump into one of the faculty, though she's apologetic all the same.] Hey! I'm sorry, I'll watch where I'm headed next time. How are you? [She's genuinely curious, it's been a while since they've spoken and she's heard enough from Bobby to know stuff is changing in Rogue's life.]

[Kitty's apology breaks when she sees Bobby, smiling widely instead.] Would I ever! I've been procrastinating all day and needed another excuse to put stuff off.

[Usually Julian's in bed by now, because he really does schedule himself like a crazy person. He has to get shit done and there are only so many hours in the day. Blame Emma. She instilled this work ethic in him. But he's awake because he has his last midterm tomorrow in economics. And wow, does he hate economics, ironically so. As a business major and all.

He's padding into the rec room in his pajamas because he thinks he might have left his cell phone on the table somewhere. And he's all sleepypants, okay? Rubbing his eyes and yawning and everything. He probably won't be studying anymore tonight. He stops in his tracks when he spots Kitty, his lips tugging up into an amused smirk.]

Isn't it past your bedtime, Kitty?

[He grins at her.] Okay. Grab your skates and I'll meet you down by the fountain.

[She shrugs it off. It's no big deal really.] I've been... good for the most part. How about you? I've been meaning to come find you to say hi and all. [Rogue's actually been meaning to say more than just hi. Kitty's pretty much the only one of her friends she can talk to about this sort of stuff.]

[Kitty contemplates on phasing out of sight when she catches sight of John, but that's kind of hard when the look on his face is almost making her giggle aloud. She has no idea why it's so hilarious to her, but it might have something to do with a sight like this - John looking a wee bit out of his element and almost not bitter for once - not coming around very often. It's weird, he's been making her laugh lately.]

Hey, you should give that a try. It's about spooky stuff happening in Chicago, definitely makes the city interesting. [Kitty's saying this only cause she's been to the place a billion times with her parents, but finds herself sort of regretting opening her mouth. She hastily glances back at her Terry Pratchett, really hoping a sarcastic remark isn't headed her way.]

I'm fine! Busy with classes, but that's nothing new. [She raises her eyebrows, catching something in Rogue's tone.] For the most part? Anything in particular getting you down?

[Rogue looks at her feet for a moment before sheepishly meeting her friend's gaze.] There's a uhh... it's possible I've gone a bit crazy or something. [Yeah, she's still processing the whole dating Julian thing.]

[John's head snaps up at the sound of Kitty's voice, and he looks a little surprised at her there, and the look lingers for another moment. It's only until Kitty turns uncomfortably back to her book as if she wants to disappear in it that John manages to slide his "whatever life is boring to me" dull poker face back on.

It's just... whatever. He's been not hating Kitty so much lately. She wasn't even that annoying at the bonfire.]

Yeah, whatever. It's, uh. Seems interesting.

[Kitty nods with a smile before heading off again, this time careful to watch where she's going. Laura's not in the room when she gets there - which is slightly worrying, but nothing new - and she rummages around in her closet before finding her skates. It's been a long time. When Kitty finally does get to the fountain, she finds herself more than excited. Even with the pile of work waiting at her desk, it's been a long time since she's been able to unwind in a fun way.] It's been a while, hasn't it? Hope I didn't forget how to keep my balance.

Hey, I'm always here to catch you. [The fountain is already frozen over, and he's already standing on the ice in his own makeshift skates (i.e. sneakers with a frozen blade attached). He waits for her to put her skates on and holds out his hand to help her up.] How've you been, anyway?

[Bedtime? Kitty hasn't had one since college started, unfortunately. But that doesn't mean she's not wishing she had one right now. Going to sleep at 8am like a kid sounds much preferable than the free reign she's got now.] Nope, but looks like it's past yours. [Kitty's teasing, but that's only because he's got his pj's on.]

[Well, that was a first! Kitty doesn't know if she's relieved or satisfied or confused, it's kind of hard to make through the mess of feelings she has right now.] It is. They even made it into a tv show. Only the books are way better, start with those. [She meant to stop talking, she really did, but Kitty's too much of a geek to not hold onto this conversation. She's still kicking herself, though - it's not like John's going to want to start a book club or something equally as silly, so what's the point?]

[Kitty frowns a little, and not in a 'take your crazy away from me' way. No, she's just concerned.] The mansion's still standing, so I'm sure it can't be that bad. [Kitty cracks a smile, beckoning Rogue to walk down the hall with her. It's always easier to talk about stressful stuff when moving about, or at least in her experience it is.] Crazy in what way, though?

[Hey, his PJ's are very manly! They're old and faded and very manly. And Kitty can get away with teasing him because she's so cute and harmless. Which is why she only gets narrowed eyes and an innocent smile for that one, all while he pads around the table to--aha!--swipe up his phone.]

Yeah, you think you're cute, nerd. [He straightens, blearily looking at the bright screen and then down to her anatomy textbook.] I swear, sweetheart, only you'd watch the Discovery channel to avoid studying.

[Yeah, she's a... little nerd, isn't she? He remembers that faintly. He's also starting to realize he's staring dumbly at the back of her head, and he doesn't really understand why he's not spitting out one of those scathing remarks usually on the tip of his tongue.

It's kind of disturbing how he realizes he doesn't even have one.]

Maybe, I don't really... [He's about to say he doesn't really have much else to do, but he trails off for a moment. Where are his scathing remarks?] ...have much else to do. Or maybe I'll just watch the show. Avoid being a nerd like you. [Ah, there's a scathing--no, wait. No, he was teasing her, not insulting her. The fuck?]

[Kitty accepts his help and soon she's up on the ice, a bit wobbly at first. She takes a moment to steady herself, testing the way the blade moves on the ice. It's ] Good! [She pauses and considers this, but finds herself thinking of Laura, the aftermath of the Kimura incidents - Kitty herself has been fine, yes, but someone she cares about hasn't.] I don't know, I've been worried about Laura. All the craziness a few weeks back really shook her up. I mean, she says nothing's wrong, but I don't know if I can believe that.
