[open log] Training! Hand-To-Hand! Drills!

I was talking to a couple of people about having some training threads to practice action tags and/or get some CR development with Logan. I figured having one big thread for anyone who wanted to play with more training scenarios. I think for this particular thread, I want to keep it just one-on-one combat, not team training. If this works well, maybe it can be a semi-regular thing.

Obviously, with the Kimura scene still ongoing, this doesn't fit with the current timeline, but it could be backdated, I suppose, to before the mansion was blown up.

This thread is open to anyone who feels like jumping in for some one-on-one playtime with Logan, other faculty members included if they need to blow off some steam or get a couple rounds in.

He is standing in the Danger Room, inspecting his unsheathed claws casually, impatient. He turns to you as you walk in with a feral grin.

“Been waiting, Bub. Don’t have all day.”

The Wolverine.

The Old Man.

The Man They Call Logan.

Teacher.

Trainer.

Killer.

Mutant.

Today, he is your opponent and he is waiting, goading you on. He expects you to fail. This is his lesson on melee combat. He dives at you full force, claws unsheathed. He is casual as he instructs you, as if it took no effort at all to attack. For him, it doesn’t.

“Fight back, but fight smart. Remember your strengths, not just your powers and your physical abilities. Think about your terrain, your surroundings. How can you use them to target your enemy’s weaknesses?”

[Julian wouldn't ever forget his training and he knows his strengths. (Maybe not his weaknesses so well though.) And his strengths? His powers, his determination, and he's got a pretty nice right hook that would hurt him more than it would hurt Logan.

He ducks, rolling to the side and on his feet to avoid Logan's claws. His first instinct is to use his powers, but Logan has taught him a thing or two about relying on them too much. So he mixes it up at first, only using them defensively, to block Logan's hits as he talks. Naturally, one or two gets in, and Julian has a bloody nose and a bruise on his side when he finally lifts his hand, throwing Logan off his feet and suspending him in the middle of the Danger Room.

[Oh well great. Just what Julian needs. A concussion. Disoriented, he falls back, only on his feet because of Logan's vice-like grip. This is not a fun situation okay and Julian takes the opportunity to lift his hands just enough to throw Logan back across the Danger Room, his back colliding with the wall, and hard.

Gritting his teeth, he gives his head a shake and spits out the blood from his nose, raising his fists and ready for more. Because let's face it... Julian never stops trying.

[Meg squeaks and rolls away in mid air.]

There's no point me doing this, I'm no good at it.

ooc I'm sorry this has taken me so long, shitty week at work

[With no time to really think, Meg instinctively zips to the side and throws out her hands, trying to shoot a cloud of dust towards Logan’s face.]

This is pretty cool.

Hey, hey! So not fair.

I've got to figure out a way to keep the blowing-up to a minimum.

New training session

Kevin arrived for his combat training session in a loose-fitting gi with protective Under Armour® underneath it. He and Logan greeted each other with a short bow.

"Before we start today, there was something I was wondering about. Do you think I could get some training for long-distance fighting? Or like, weapons for ranged attacks? I'm... not exactly the safest person to get close to. There are going to be times when we need to attack, but not kill."
