[Julian is sprawled across some couch, propped up by a pillow and the armrest, a book open on his chest. Yes, Julian Keller is reading. Why? He has to, for one class or another. This one's for business and he's actually paying some attention to the words on the page, although every now and then he spaces out, looks off to the side. He's not bored or even necessarily tired anymore, just weary in a way that's starting to get under his skin.

It's quiet where he is; this is the living area most students don't frequent - it's usually occupied by the Cuckoos. Today, however, Julian's in it for the same reason he's been in it more often than the rec room all week: to avoid people. There's just something about what he's working through that makes him a bit anti-social.]

What'choo reading? [Josh says this through mouthfuls of potato chips, knowing Julian would shoo him away if this really was critical reading which had to be done right now. Maybe neither of them would want to talk about it, but, Josh wants to just... make sure he's okay and not going to go fly off the handle and do something crazy from repressed emotions. Or something.

Or maybe Josh just wants to be nice.]

[Nice or concerned or what-the-fuck-ever Josh is, Julian recognizes the gesture for what it is and accepts it. Truth is when shit goes down this inevitably always happens: there's a peace offering, some civil conversation, and then they can go back to their regularly scheduled what-the-fuck-ever they are lately. Friends? Julian doesn't know. All he knows is after years of all the crap they've been through, Josh is one of the only people who doesn't push and annoy the hell out of him when he's upset.]

Business crap for some midterm. What're you doing?

Ohhhh, right... class. [Josh laughs at himself, and points to his head in a "Duh!" gesture.] Yeah, that's probably what I should be doing. But I'm just messing around. [He shrugs. It's the truth. After the attack on the mansion, Josh has had more than enough time to rest up and recover but he hasn't gotten back on his regular schedule yet, and is not really in a hurry to get studying.]

Lucky bitch. [Julian doesn't necessarily mean it in an insulting way, his flat tone giving away that much. There's a momentary pause, then Julian reaches out to swipe the chips from Josh's hand, taking more for himself. He looks down at the bag, at a loss of what to say without actually tormenting and insulting his gay little roommate. There's not much he can think to say or ask aside from being his usual jackass self to him.]

[Josh just shrugs. He gets it. There's not much to their relationship other than friendly and sometimes not-so-friendly teasing. Josh does worry though. Word gets around plenty fast at the school, and Julian doesn't have to say why he's upset; Josh can plainly tell what part of it is.

So he just shrugs and doesn't push it.]

I'll be upstairs. [Josh brushes the crumbs off on his pants and gets up to leave. It's subtle code for If you want to talk, I'll be around, even though he knows it's not something that's going to happen. Extending the courtesy, though, is the least he can do. Other than pretending to insert tumors into Julian.]

[It's a subtle code Julian deciphers easily, his eyes lifting to watch Josh leave. And he'll never take Josh up on it, but he nearly appreciates it. He does appreciate the sentiment behind the reassurance.

Julian lets out an exhales once Josh has left, drops the chips to the side, and rubs at his face quietly for a moment. Sometimes he's almost grateful Josh is such a good guy, even if that obviously means Julian taunts him for a pussy every other day. And even if he does give him pretend tumors.]
