SECOND IMPORTANT NOTE: It's been nearly a day since John has disappeared, along with Logan. There are whispers and rumors floating around school that John has left for the Brotherhood again and Logan has followed to skewer him. Some people say they ran away together to fall in love and join the circus though. Keep it in mind!

[Emma makes as if she's considering the matter for a moment before shaking her head.] No time for that right now, darlings. We do have a battle to win. [There's a quick glance behind here that reveals the distinct lack of Mastermind. She lets out a sound of irritated exasperation. She's not terribly surprised that he's found a way to escape but she's still annoyed at herself for being so sloppy.] Lock him in the lower levels. You can play later.

[One beam clips Lorna's shoulder, sending her reeling backward in space. She halts herself, rising again, pulling the eaves from the mansion, sending it to make motions to coil around Rogue like some hideous aluminum boa constrictor.]

I you'd just hold still for a moment, we could hurry this up so you can die already.

Sorry, I don't kill that easy. [Rogue grits her teeth as she shoots higher into the air, trying to avoid the snake-like metal structure. She's almost done because she can't keep fighting a battle on this playing field. Her gloves come off, fluttering to earth unnoticed as she creates a distraction with another beam. It takes just enough of Polaris's attention for Rogue to zoom in, bare hands reaching for the other mutant's face. Skin meets skin and the drain of both powers and life starts. Metal slams to the ground as both women fall closer to the earth, Lorna struggling to get free.] Sorry, sugah. [Rogue releases her, having taken enough to render the woman unconscious but not kill her.

And then she feels it again. That horrible horrible sensation of overloading and too many powers fighting for dominance in her drained and exhausted body. This is not going to be good.]

[Forge's eyes widen as Rogue unleashes her true power, Lorna's limp, unconscious body falling to the earth. There is a tremor of power in the air as she struggles for control. Forge looks at the shoddy, fast rig thing in his hand and wonders if it's going to work at all, if it'll hurt Rogue so much that even Josh might not be able to repair her.

It gives him enough pause to call out to her, hoping she can gain control]

Rogue! The fight's over girl, come back down!

[Rogue's still high up in the air, fighting the psyches within her mind. There's a scream of pain as the new Lorna psyche struggles against her.

She's probably not going to get control back any time soon.]

[Well. That was successful. Can't blame the guy for trying though. He shrugs, nothing for it, and launches his fly-by-night Rogue-stopper into the air. He closes his eyes, waits.]

Sorry, girl.

[It connects successfully, the jagged splinter edges of the wood making contact with enough force to drive deep into Rogue's upper back. He hears her cry out, watches her convulse as the charge takes hold. He darts out quickly as she begins to fall, just barely positioning himself in time to catch her.

She's sweating, panting, questionably conscious. He pushes her hair back from her face with his synthetic hand, cupping her cheek as he supports her limp neck.]

Come on, Rogue. Come on back.

[Her entire body hurts but it's Rogue who's in control of it and not another pissed off version of Polaris.] It's me, Forge. [All of her sessions gone wrong with Logan have taught her that that assurance needs to be the first thing out of her mouth, mostly so she doesn't get skewered or shot again.] Thanks. [It's a few long moments before she tries to get to her feet, gratefully accepting Forge's help. A quick glance around confirms that Polaris unconscious on the ground not too far away. She opens her mouth to make a comment about it when she tries to move a bit too fast, putting a bit too much strain on a spot where Polaris had hit her with some support beams.] I really need to stop making a habit out of this.

[Forge isn't going to give her an option, he's got his arm around her, his fingers pausing to check on the wound on her back for a second before taking a more supportive hold of her.]

You could always take up biting your nails. Might be a little less wear and tear on you, long term. [He gives her a gentle, friendly jostle.] You won't get to save the day nearly as much, though.
