[semi-open log] bonfire planning for the students!

Characters: Jono, Meg, Julian, Josh... and all students!
Setting: The Mansion
Content: It's Guy Fawkes Night in the UK, and our residents Brits are itching to celebrate here and want to involve everybody.
Status: There's a complete scene, but I'd like to continue tagging with everybody. Make plans! Get excited! Do stuff! Also, see this thread for some backstory!

Julian answered the rapping on his door and saw the smiling faces of Meg and Jono. They said together, “Penny for the guy?” the way trick-or-treaters might chorus.

“...What?”

“We’re spreading the word about a Guy Fawkes Night bonfire!” Meg said.

“Isn’t that the thing from that V for Vendetta movie?” Josh said from his desk.

“It’s not just a thing from a movie, Josh, it’s an actual... see, there was this bloke, Guy Fawkes, right? And he had this plot to blow up the houses of Parliament,” Jono told the two roommates.

Meg added, “I guess it’d be like someone plotting to blow up the White House.”

“And they caught him, burnt him to death, yadda yadda, now we have bonfires every November 5th. Meg and I decided we should have ourselves a party, all students here should come!”

“You guys celebrate someone’s execution or whatever? I think V for Vendetta would be cheerier,” Josh chuckled.

“What’s this penny thing?” Julian said, eyeing the solicitors suspiciously.

“Kids make this sort of life-size doll thing out of stuffed clothes and that’s like, ‘Guy Fawkes’ and a few days before the actual night they go round with it and ask for a ‘penny for the guy.’ And then we burn it on a bonfire,” Meg said brightly, even while the expressions on Julian’s and Josh’s faces turned horrified.

“Oh, but, we’re just asking for everyone to chip in a little for all the food I’m planning to get,” Jono explained. “Listen up! We’re going to have toffee apples, and pie, and, well, you Americans like s’mores, right? And we’ll have baked potatoes, and things like sour cream and chili and other stuff to put in the baked potatoes, and --!”

“Whoa, slow down,” Julian had to cut in before Jono would start drooling. Jono’s eyes were already getting wider and wider as he thought about the food.
