[open log] By the lake
Characters: Rogue, Logan, Julian, and open to others
Setting: By the lake
Content: Rogue's sitting by the lake because what happened in the Danger Room is still weighing on her mind. Individual threads please.
Status: Incomplete
[Rogue's sitting outside by the lake in one of the more secluded areas. She needs to think and doesn't want every other person stumbling over her. She's still trying to wrap her head around what happened in the Danger Room the day before the attack. Manifesting powers and various small personality traits for a while after she absorbs someone- that she can handle. Randomly manifesting Magneto's powers and temporarily losing control of her own body? Not so much. Try telling that to Logan...
She closes her eyes and tries to concentrate on Bobby's psyche and his powers. She tries to remember how it felt the other day when she lost control but nothing's happening. Maybe the air around her gets a few degrees cooler but that's it. And maybe she's just imagining it and secretly relieved at the lack of results.
It would be hard to tell what she's doing if someone didn't have an idea though. Because to most people, she's just sitting by the lake, oblivious to the rest of the world.]

He gets a little closer and notices the temperature drop, the tiniest puff of breath escaping his lips. He raises and eyebrow at this, if it's what he thinks it is, and moves to crouch near her, just off and behind. He light a cigar, alerting her to his presence, but doesn't say anything.]

This isn't going to work.
no subject
Then there's no harm trying it, is there darlin'?
no subject
So you mean that the Magneto-in-my-brain didn't try to rip you apart then?

[She shuts her eyes and tries to focus on Bobby's psyche again, trying to separate the powers from the memories. It doesn't work though and she lets out a sound of frustration. Any progress she'd been making vanishes and the temperature returns to normal. The psyche's simply just refusing to cooperate. She shakes her head a little and takes a deep breath. What's different from last time? She'd drained more power than she really should have from Logan but that was hardly the first time. And there had been a lot of pain involved too. And then she gets what's probably a really bad idea.]
So the last time... It was... Shit this is probably a dumb idea.
[She yanks off a glove and extends her bare hand towards him.]
Mind if I borrow 'em for a few?
no subject
Help yourself, darlin'.

Part of the lake before them almost immediately ices over which means her really stupid idea work except for one small problem... Iceman's the one in control, not her.]

Rogue's sitting right there, just at the water's edge, suddenly uncovered by the foliage. He slows to a stop, watching her curiously for a moment, brows furrowed. Her eyes are closed, the light breeze brushing a few errant strands into her face.
She looks lost in some thought and if Julian is even a little bit honest with himself, he knows she also looks beautiful.
Curious, he continues to walk over, his lips quirking into a half smile as he gets close. His tone is quieter than usual; everything's too remote here, too peaceful.]
Twice in one week? You're not stalking me, are you, sweetheart?
no subject
Julian! What are you doing out here?
no subject
I was going for a run, sugar. What were you doing?
no subject
[Yeah that wasn't sarcastic at all.]
no subject
Anything promising?
no subject
So far, all I've got is changing the climate of the entire world to be a tropical paradise.

He's squinting, trying to see if there's anyone on the basketball court much further ahead, so he doesn't notice Rogue until he's almost walked on top of her.]
Rogue! Uh... sorry. I didn't see you there.
[They seem to be running into each other a lot lately. And maybe it's becoming less awkward.
She starts at his words. He's obviously interrupted her train of thought.]
Oh. Sorry. You... look like you want some alone time. Just ignore me.
[He takes it back. It's still awkward.]
no subject
Oh uhm... hey Bobby.
[No seriously- this is weird. And awkward. Had anyone mentioned awkward yet?]
no subject
Are you - are you okay?
no subject
Yeah, I uhh-- You just startled me.
[She tries for a reassuring smile but instead it comes out strained.]
no subject
[He doesn't say anything as he sits down beside her, just raises an eyebrow. He knows her well enough to recognise when she's lying about being okay.]
You sure?
[The question's asked casually, but with a hint of that concern bleeding through in the way he looks at her.]
no subject
[One day, she's going to get better at lying.]
no subject
[He's always had this way of somehow getting people to open up to him (although not through any conscious effort on his part, and he's still not quite sure what it is), and he's hoping it'll still work with her, because, despite the weirdness, he still really cares about her and wants to help. Somehow. If it's even possible.]
