xmutanthigh | [open log] a day in the life of Jono Starsmore, the human furnace

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, lads. Eat up, eat up!" Jono chants at his usual cafeteria table. He's already finished a grueling workout in the weight room, and has a little bit of time to kill before heading off to class.

Between classes, Jono's juggling several different phone conversations with Forge and school administration, trying to figure out what to do with himself (details here (http://community.livejournal.com/xmutanthigh/210232.html)). He wants to transfer or switch majors. Maybe he gets a text or voicemail from one of you.

Jono's lunch is usually at the community college, with whoever happens to be around.

"Lunch is the most important meal of the day," Jono says in between generous bites.

"I thought you said breakfast is the most important meal," someone mumbles.

"It is," Jono agrees earnestly.

After returning to the mansion from the community college, Jono likes to switch it up between the basketball courts, the weight room, taking laps, and other forms of exercise. Today he's decided to make use of the pitching machine to take batting practice. He's wearing a batting helmet and has good, powerful swings. Baseball retrieval all thoughout the field will provide another form of exercise for him afterwards.

Jono can't help smiling as he looks at his very full dinner plate with anticipation. "Dinner is the most important meal of the day," he announces solemnly to the table at large.

"Oh, be quiet and eat your food," Josh says playfully. He's used to Jono's worshipfulness of food.

"You'd understand if you'd lost the ability to taste deliciousness for a stretch of five or six months!" Jono replies hotly.

"Woop, woop!" Josh sounds off like an alarm bell. "Overreaction alert!"

Jono can only growl in reponse through his full mouth.

This is where everyone comes alive. Jono impatiently waited all day for his chance in the Danger Room, even more excited about combat practice now that he's modified his chestplate. Forge designed it to contain all of his psionic energy and only release it from the gadget, but Jono's mutation has always allowed that energy to flow throughout the rest of his body, too.

Modifying the gadget to be able to divert energy out of the chest, he's now able to emit an evil-looking red glow from both hands, which burn through solid metal. With a more refined control of his powers, he harnesses that energy into his hands without burning himself, and can throw it out as blasts of concussive power, or simply swipe at a target. It's somewhat of a new development, and he's eager to show it off (details (http://community.livejournal.com/xmutanthigh/210232.html?thread=1157176#t1157176)).

Cooling down after the Danger Room is a prime time for band practice. Jono has a few songs he's written down and so do his fellow band members. Their rehearsals vary from open to extremely private when preparing for certain shows, but today it looks like anyone can come watch. With no neighbors for miles, the band lets loose as loud as they want!

After band practice, Jono decides to play a few video games in the common room with some buddies.

No class for Jono tomorrow and a good workout day means some serious relaxation time. He plans to take his car out for a spin and maybe stop by the nearby pool hall and wonders if anyone wants to join.

Stumbling home from the pool hall smelling of peanuts and beer, Jono takes a shower whistling some of the tunes his band had been playing earlier. While he's in the shower everyone he was out with has surely gone to bed already... Dragging a towel along with him he sneaks down to the common area to pick up his video games before collapsing into bed, he figures no one else would be awake this late, right?

[Meg hovers a few feet above the ground, arms crossed.] Hey! Watch where you're aiming those things.

I kind of can't. Sorry. That's why I practice!

[Meg raises an eyebrow.]

I can tell.

[She eyes the machine warily.]

It looks kind of dangerous.

Nah, it's not bad. Here, put this on, and I'll show you.

You'll want this one instead of the bike helmet. See, it's got earflaps!

[Meg puts the helmet on, hair sticking out wildly from under the ear flaps.]

Okay. Now I stand here and let that thing fire baseballs at me?

Ali's waiting for Jono in the garage, sitting on the trunk of his car. She's eating a jos louis about as messily as humanly possible, chocolate, cake and cream filling all over her fingertips. She chucks a second chocolately confection at Jono.

"Midnight snacks are the most important meal of the day!" She says, but it comes out more like "Mrrnurf snuurf rawr mrrf." Jono still knows what she's talkin' 'bout, cause he's just a little bit psychic like that.

"You said it, girl." He affirms between bites. "What say we hit the road?"

"What are we waiting for? There's beer to drink and rednecks to fleece for all their cash!"

"You really rocked that solo, Jono!" Kevin says, spinning a drumstick.

"You weren't so bad yourself," Jono told him, changing the tuning on his guitar for the next song, "you must be practising."

"Oh, just a little." Kevin almost blushes, but that would be embarassing and make him blush more. "Can't have a girlfriend, so I may as well find some way to drive the chicks wild..."

Logan dislikes a lot of things. Cell phones, computers, Tony Stark...unfortunately for Logan, he likes his students, Jono being one of them. The message he leaves on Jono's machine sounds like someone reading amilitary telegraph.

"Starsmore. Forge said you were poking around looking at engineering, technical schools, the like. Put my ear to the ground for you, got in touch with some people. Tony Stark is in New York working on a project for the next week and a half, he's agreed to have lunch, point you in the right direction. Let me know if you're interested, I'll set it up."

[Julian's back from class looking grumpy and hungry because biology is a hard class for his brain ok. He plops down next to Jono and his man with his own heaping tray of food.]

Hey, dicks. Ready to lose?

[He's referring of course to the next DR session. Julian might have went to the morning one too. He currently has a shiner on his eye from Piotr.]

[It's Jono's lucky day. Laura is on the couch in a black nightgown watching TV. She sniffs a little and looks up at his arrival.]

Hello. You smell like a bar.

[Bobby plops down next to him with a very full plate, having just come in, starving, from an early-morning run.] I don't get how you're always so cheerful in the mornings, Jono. Is it the food? It's the food, isn't it?

It's the food. Anyway, I'm only grumpy when I've just gotten up and not had my coffee. Already had my morning workout. What's going on with you, mate?
