[OPEN POST] NEW BRO'HOOD

[Ali and Jono have been clambering through the snow-covered trees for hours. It's dark and they are both wet and freezing. Every so often they stop as Ali check the direction the should be going in, her eyes and mouth glowing a brilliant white as she calls to her the sound for several miles around. She's getting more proficient with it as she practices, the only problem being that when she absorbs so much raw sonic energy, the light inside of her grows brighter and brighter.

In the dark, she begins to worry that she'll give their location away to a keen Brotherhood scout and she grabs Jono's wrist as he's about to hop into another tree.]

Maybe we should stop, wait for daylight. [She bites her lip, trying to hide the tremor in the hand that grips his arm. Regardless of whether it's shaking from cold or from the terror that is building in her as she remembers all too vividly the last time she approached a camp similar to this.] Night is a better cover for us to get what little sleep we can, Jon. We're gonna need it.

[Jono nods, his breath fogging in the cold air, and reaches into his bag and gives Ali a bottle of water.]

I can keep us a bit warm.

[Ali takes a gulp, the water is so cold it burns as she swallows. She scoots closer to Jono and reaches into his bag to pull out the emergency blanket they'd brought, wrapping around both their shoulders.

Ali's mind is whirling and, though they've stopped under the pretense of rest, she's pretty sure there'll be no sleep for her until this entire thing is over and done with. Her teeth chatter.]

I'll take first watch, you sleep.

Really don't know if I can sleep right now. Too worried.

[That's what Jono says out loud, but in reality he's completely beat. He won't last much longer without some sleep. So he lays out the blankets, and promptly starts to doze off.]

[Ali watches Jono sleep for a few hours, pulling the leather of her jacket close and closer around her, her shivering increasing, her teeth chattering. She wonders at how Jono can sleep in this brutal cold and tries to huddle up closer to him without waking him. One of them, at least, should sleep.]

F-f-f-f-fuck I'm f-f-f-f-freezing!

[Ali's outburst wakes Jono. His eyes flutter open to see Ali shivering and her teeth chattering. He unzips his jacket and holds it open, letting Ali come in closer and hug his torso, and then wraps the jacket around her.]

The energy churning around in here will keep you warm. Sorry I didn't think of it sooner.

I d-d-d-didn't mean to wake you.

[Ali hesitates, thinking fleetingly of Forge for a moment, knowing how much he would hate every part of this moment. The thought perishes quickly, she is freezing and keeping her distance from the furnace hidden beneath Jono's chestplate isn't an option for her.

She snuggles in close, then closer, pressing every inch of herself she possibly can against him, trying to dispel the awful chill. If she could crawl inside him, she would. She's still shivering as he wraps the jacket around her, her breath puffing out in stilted breaths against Jono's neck.]

Th-th-th-thanks.

It's okay.

[Jono allows the energy inside of him that keeps him alive to become stronger, giving more warmth to Ali.]

Now you get some sleep. I'll wake you in the morning, then we'll try to get a little closer.

[He sighs, and worries about Ali. She's become so broken in the past few weeks. One of the things that powered him on and kept him going on this last trip was the hope that seeing Kevin's face might give her a little strength.]

[Ali nods, yawning, suddenly very sleepy engulfed in Jono's warmth. She nuzzles her face against his neck, murmuring, and it's hard to say if she's still slightly awake or talking in her sleep.]

Stay away from my sister...

[Jono's eyebrows raise a bit at this, but he doesn't dare wake her. She needs as much rest as she can get, and keeps his psionic energy burning as hot has can get it through his layers of clothing. He gives her a gentle pat on the shoulder, then leans his back to rest against a tree. Not much longer til sunrise. The birds have already started chirping in the darkness.]
