[Rogue's decided that she really doesn't like treadmills and is therefore somewhat bundled up so she can take a run outside the lake instead. Logan's been pushing her in training and she's really not fond of feeling like she's going to keel over after every training session. Her solution to this is to work out more and that involves running. In the cold. She's starting to second guess this solution thing.]

Darlin', for someone who hates the cold you have no sense of geography. Remember, when I met you you were hitchhiking across Canada. In the winter. Without a parka. [He shakes his head.] You coulda froze to death hiding in my trailer.

[There's a faint flush to her face that's not from the cold.] It seemed like a good idea at the time! [Her gaze drops to her feet, kicking one foot into the ground, her next words somewhat muffled.] 'Sides, I was kinda out of options.

You coulda stolen a proper coat. [Logan grins, lowering his voice to meet her hush, putting an arm around her shoulder and tugging her into a loose hug, ushering her into a stroll along the path. He loosens his grip a little, giving her the option to pull away, but he's rather fond of his protege and wouldn't mind entirely if she stayed where she was.] I'll be leaving for a while, soon. Not sure how long. You want me to line up anyone in particular to take over you training sessions?

[She doesn't pull away and just moves along with him. The question, however, gets a small shrug from her.] I dunno. I guess someone who'll be harder to kill by accident if things go wrong. [It's gotten easier to speak lightly of the psyches lately. The first part of his words finally clicks with her and she frowns a bit.] So what's got you leaving without knowin' when you'll be back?

[Logan pauses, considers his words. He doesn't like lying to Rogue, feels it challenges the foundation of trust that their entire relationship is built on. He'd hoped to avoid it by not being questioned. Now, he's stuck. He goes for the closest thing to the truth.] Business. Heist up in Montreal, could be a lead. Northstar gave me the heads up, I'll be meeting him to get debriefed with everything Department H and Alpha Flight have on the situation. Could take a while to get all the bases covered, especially if it turns into a lead.

[Rogue believes him because, well, why wouldn't she? Sadly, if he's hoped to avoid being questioned, then he's going to be further out of luck.] It's a Brotherhood thing then?

[He's silent for a while, silently cursing her curiosity. The less she knows, the better.] Maybe. Nothing's guaranteed, but it's the first real thing we've had to go on in weeks. It's worth the trip. [He chuckles, but it's forced, and gives her shoulder a light squeeze.] Besides, I need a break from your smart mouth every once in a while.

Me? A smart mouth? [She grins and shakes her head, voice taking on a perfectly innocent and confused tone.] I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about, Logan.

Oh no? [He grins. This kid is adorable, and he remembers why he's so fond of her.] Because the headache I have after every one of our training sessions tells a different story.

I thought I was too busy gettin' my ass kicked to be handin' out headaches. [And now she's just flat out grinning too. Mostly because trying to keep up the 'who me?' act is just too hard.]

What can I say, kid. [This is feeling like a victory here, getting her joking around to distract her from asking more questions.] You've got a gift. Maybe it's a secondary mutation.

[Rogue wrinkles her nose, making a face at the mere suggestion.] If that's my secondary mutation, then it's a pretty lame one.

Hey, you said it, kid. [He holds up his hands defensively.] At least you're not big, furry and blue?

Blue's not exactly my colour anyways. [Her tone's dry as she says the words although she's still grinning.] So are you leavin' real soon or do I still need to be the in DR tomorrow afternoon to get my ass kicked?
