[Ali's not always great at reading stances, and even when she is, she's not always keen on obliging the message they give off. She's in a hurry, though, and probably would have passed Laura by with a nod, except that one of her boots drops from the bundle in her arms, landing on her foot.

Letting a long string of obscenities escape her, of course, Ali proceeds to drop the rest of her things, hopping about pretty ridiculously trying to collect them all off the floor with one foot feeling like it's been run over by a bus. She looks up at Laura sheepishly, managing a smile and a little awkward conversation.]

Hey. How's it going?

I am fine. [Laura moves from the wall a little now, observing Ali's mess. And her injury. She squats down the be helpful and pick up Ali's bottle of shampoo.] You should try not to be clumsy.

Yeah, been workin' on that for 23 years... [She takes the shampoo with a grateful nod, trying to get a solid hold on everything without dropping it, or her towel. She laughs good-naturedly.] You always so full of advice?

[Laura straightens, blinks at Ali as if either confused at the question or confused at her. It's probably both.]

No, I do not always have advice.

I know, Laura. I was joking. [Ali smiles, readjusting her grip on her things before the slip away from her again.] You could stand to lighten up a little, you know.

[Yeah, Laura's just blinking now. But there's a subtle expression on her face. It's a slightly frustrated one. "Lightening up" is not a switch to turn on and off. She cannot change her past or who she is, and she cannot ignore it either.]

[Ali holds Laura's gaze for a moment, waiting to see if she's going to speak. when she doesn't, ali shrugs and turns to go. She's dripping wet still and doesn't have the time or the inclination to puzzle the strange girl out or try and keep up a one-sided conversation about nothing.]

Ok, well. Good talk. We'll see you later.

[Ali stops and looks back offering, off-handedly:] There's a show on tonight, in town. I'm just working backstage, but maybe Bobby might be interested in checking it out if you want someone to go with...

[Laura's attention perks up at Bobby's name, of course--just a slight dilating of her pupils. Her frustration has nearly passed now; she simply wishes she could lighten up as easily as others do.

She has a choice here, though: she can do as Ali suggests, or she can take a shower and go on with her day as planned. She's still not sure which, even when she answers.]

Yeah no prob. [Ali's heading down the hall again, tossing the words over her shoulder.] Show starts at 9, Drake knows where it is.
