[SCENE] Lorna, Amara, and Meg- shopping!
Okay- so, yeah: this is wickedly back-dated. But you love us, so it's okay. Right?
Why had she agreed to do this?
Halloween was coming up and Lorna had nothing. No costume, no idea for a costume, absolutely nothing. She had never really been to a costume party but she remembered when she was a little kid dressing up and being able to show off her natural hair color without fear.
She had mentioned her lack of costume to Amara earlier and the girl told her about a shopping trip she was taking with Meg. Lorna was convinced this was a horrible idea. Her relationship with Amara was still kind of tentative, they were civil but Lorna still had some making up to do. Besides she hated shopping and had never really talked to Meg but she did need a costume.
Lorna walked out front and saw where Amara and the pixie were standing. She heard the two of them talking and Meg gesturing wildly.
"Amara, isn't Lorna one of the people who spread all those rumours about you?" Meg was demanding.
"Well, yes. But we've sorted it out, don't worry." Amara reassured her friend. Meg still looked a little disgruntled. They didn't seem to have realised that Lorna had arrived, so she made her way up to the talking girls and gave a small wave.
“Well I’m here,” she stated shyly giving the girls a small smile.
"Hi, Lorna." Amara waved back, smiling. "We were just waiting for you and-" Before Amara could finish Meg moved to stand in front of her, standing between the two girls, and held her hand out at Lorna. "I'm Meg."
Lorna shook her hand hesitantly, her reply also hesitant. "Hi-hi Meg. I'm Lorna."
Amara tapped the slightly shorter Meg on the shoulder. "Um, Meg? Would you like to, you know, move a bit?" she asked her friend, laughing slightly.
"So, umm to the bus then?" Lorna shifted her weight under Meg's cold stare. This was a seriously bad idea

"I look like a character from Veggie Tales that turned into a hooker," Lorna stated coming out of the changing room with a hopeless look on her face.
Meg and Amara tried to stifle their giggles as they looked over at Lorna. Meg wasn't sure what to think of the green haired mutant but she couldn't help feel a little sorry for her, giving the look on her face. Not that she was doing much better. Costumes didn't tend to come with holes for wings.
"It's Halloween, Lorna." Amara piped up, half-smiling. "You look fine," she paused. "If you look like a hooker, than what am I going to look like?" She raised an eyebrow as she finished.
"A non-Veggie Tale hooker?" Meg asked jokingly, she and Lorna laughing slightly. Amara gave her a gaping look for a moment before laughing a bit as well.
"I don't know, she'll look a bit fierce to be a hooker. I don't know who would let her in their car without fearing for their life," Lorna said thinking of Amara's ensemble. "Seriously, what am I going to wear? I really hate having green hair sometimes."
"At least you don't have wings popping out of your back!"
"Come on, think of the guaranteed costumes you have at your finger tips," Lorna said eagerly. "You could be a butterfly or a fairy!"
"I already look like a fairy everyday, why dress up as one for Halloween?"
"You could go as your evil twin, or something," Amara said seriously. "All black and dark and the like."
Meg thought for a moment. It would be different and no one would be expecting it. "So like a Gothic fairy? With black hair and heavy makeup? You know, that could be fun," Meg said bouncing slightly, a wide grin on her face.
"Great! So you're going to be a cool fairy, you're going to be a sexy dominatrix, and I'm going to be a Veggie Tale prostitute. I'm beginning to hate Halloween."
Amara and Meg laughed softly. "You don't look like a Veggie Tale prostitute, Lorna! Honest!" Amara held up a hand, indicating her honesty
Lorna screwed up her face and turned sideways, looking into the mirror next to her.
"Really, Lorna- you look great!" Meg said reassuringly, trying to console the green-haired girl. Lorna sighed.
"Okay." She turned to go back into the dressing room, but she turned back around towards them before she did so. "But if anyone makes a comment or whatever about this costume, it's all on you two." Meg giggled and Amara only smirked, the both of them nodding.
A few minutes Lorna came out of the dressing room, her costume in hand. The girls began making their way towards the front of the store with their purchases.
"Oh Meg look they have spray glitter, if they have it in black we can deck out your wings," Lorna said excitedly dragging the girl over to the display, leaving Amara to pay first.
Amara put her costume on the counter and gave the cashier a polite smile. He was a pimply boy who made no attempt to hide the fact he was looking the blonde up and down. He gestured towards the other two girls with a snarl before leaning into Amara.
"I don't see why they think they need costumes. They should just go as the sideshow freaks they are. I have to say though, i would love to see you out and about in this costume."
Amara swallowed nervously and looked over at Meg and Lorna, who were enthralled by the accessories and the silly Halloween cosmetics. She looked back at the cashier, glancing around the counter uncomfortably. "Can you just check me out, please?"
He clicked the price of the leather get-up into the machine, receipt printing. "I already did, darlin'." He leaned back a bit from the counter to look her up and down again, smirking, and it made her desperately uncomfortable, which caused her to cross her arms.
He leaned towards her again, voice lowered. "If you want to ditch those freaks, this place isn't busy this time of day usually. You wanna stick around?" He continued to smirk and he winked at her lecherously. She grimaced and a bit of anger was beginning to take hold of her.
"You don't know who you're talking about!" she snapped at him a little too loudly. Lorna noticed the scene that was unfolding, and was trying to distract Meg.
"They're not freaks!" she continued, "They're- we're people, just like you. So- if you wouldn't mind, would you just do your job and let us pay for our purchases?" She glared at him, and her eyes flashed a brighter blue for a moment. The boy look a bit taken aback by her outburst and did his job, avoiding her glare. She let out a shaky breath and stepped back as Lorna and Meg approached, setting their things onto the counter to purchase.
Lorna glared at the cashier while he quickly went through their purchases. She handed him the money careful not touch his hand. As he punched the numbers in the till the money drawer slammed forward into his groin and the cashier doubled over in pain and surprise.
"I think you're going to need to get that fixed, could be dangerous," Lorna stated with a smirk, careful not to look Meg or Amara in the eye.
With a groan the cashier handed over the change and Lorna grabbed the bags turning to the other girls. "Coffee?"
********************************
Finally having their mugs in hand, Lorna and Amara with coffee and Meg with tea, Lorna spoke up, with a question directed at Amara. "So, are you okay?"
Lorna was sat opposite from the other two girls, and she watched Amara swallow a gulp of coffee. Amara set her mug down onto the table, and Meg looked at her from her seat. "Why? What happened?" Meg questioned Amara, curious.
"Nothing. It's nothing, Meg." Amara smiled at her friend, not wanting to upset her, knowing full well about Meg's protective nature and that Meg was a bit sensitive about her wings on occasion. Amara looked back to Lorna, "I'm- I'm okay. Thanks." She smiled weakly and quickly took another sip of coffee.
Lorna smiled weakly trying to think of safer conversation. "So Amara how are you and Bobby doing?"
Amara looked up from her coffee, and smiled again. "We're doing well." She laughed slightly, "That's practically all anyone ever asks me anymore: 'How are you and Bobby?'" She paused, "That's normal, right? It isn't every one thinking we're going to fail or anything, right?" Her features seemed a bit confused as she finished. She could hear Meg swallow a gulp of tea from beside her.
"You ok Meg?" Lorna asked worryingly. "You aren't choking are you?"
Meg set her tea cup down onto the table, nodding. "Yeah- yeah, I'm fine." She coughed, and Amara looked at her worriedly, turning back to Lorna momentarily.
"Well I'm glad you and Bobby are happy together, you two really are adorable. It's actually quite sickening if you must know," Lorna said sticking her tongue out before taking a drink of her coffee. "What about you Meg? Are you with anybody?"
Meg scoffed, rolling her eyes. "No! Boys are stupid," she stated, almost dismissing the subject of boys.
"Not all boys," Amara piped up.
"Says you. You've got the All-American Ice-Boy Wonder hanging on your every word." Lorna retorted jokingly, and Amara laughed.
Meg nodded. "Thank you! I've tried to tell her that before."
"Boys are ridiculous. I mean you have your boys like Bobby and then there are the complete pigs," Lorna said rolling her eyes.
"Or the great guy who keeps giving mixed signals! One minute you're sure he likes you then the next-"
"-you're the friend!" Lorna stated.
"Exactly!" Meg smiled at the other girl before they both turned, giving sheepish looks to Amara.
