[scene] Lorna and Amara- talking, apologies, and root beer floats.
This is back-dated just a tiny bit, I think.
Lorna continued her way down the stairs heading for the kitchen in search of a snack, silently thankful for the lack of students around. The last couple of weeks had been oddly quiet, not that she was complaining. No the only thing worth complaining about was the constant smell of freshly cut wood that would just not leave her no matter how many showers she took; of course it didn't help that she spent every free moment in the tree house.
Lorna walked into the kitchen and froze suddenly at what she saw. Amara was there, her head hidden by the door of the refrigerator, apparently unaware of Lorna's entrance. Lorna turned around quickly intent on escaping without notice. Ever since she had unintentionally started that rumor about Amara, Lorna had kept out of her way because in all honesty she was a giant coward and really didn't want to feel the wrath of Amara's anger.
Oh honestly this is ridiculous, just turn around and apologize like an adult.
Lorna turned around but did not speak, instead she stood still, debating the pros and cons of staying and talking like an adult or the more attractive option of running like hell. As Lorna continued internally debating with herself Amara closed the door of the refrigerator and turned, jumping slightly at the unexpected sight of someone else there. Just as Amara opened her mouth to speak Lorna beat her to the punch.
"I'm really sorry I'm such an ass," Lorna stated quickly bracing herself for whatever reaction Amara might have.
Amara's eyebrows bunched up, confused. "What are you talking about?"
"You know, the whole accidental rumor spreading thing. I had no idea one offhanded comment would turn you into the school whore, not that you are!" Lorna began shifting from foot to foot trying desperately not to bolt out the door. "I really really suck at this."
Before responding, Amara side-glanced, a mixture of confusion and slight agitation apparent on her face, but disappearing as she looked back to her green-haired classmate in front of her. "It's not your fault." She began, "You didn't intend any harm, and just because the students here are childish, and cannot simply let something go, doesn't mean that you have to apologize. It's okay." She added, with a slight smile.
"No it is my fault and it's not ok and god, I was really hoping you were going to be a bitch so I wouldn't feel so guilty," Lorna said smiling sheepishly. "For what it's worth I am really sorry. Look, I know we've never really talked before so can we start over? Hi, I'm Lorna and I have a horrible habit of misreading situations that are none of my business," Lorna stated hopefully, holding out her hand.
Amara hesitated a moment before reaching out her own hand towards Lorna. "Look I'm not mad, just make sure you have the facts before you start telling people things. Fair enough?"
"Yeah fair enough. For what it's worth I think you and Bobby are adorable together."
Amara smiled, her thought flashing briefly towards her blond boyfriend. "Thanks Lorna."
Lorna stood there for a moment as an awkward silence passed between the two girls. "Are you hungry? I was about to whip up a root-beer float if you were interested."
Amara paused for a second before recognizing the telltale rumble in her stomach, the reason she was in the kitchen to begin with. "Sure, why not?"
Lorna smiled briefly, quickly moving to get the necessary items as Amara took a seat, a tentative truce between them.
