Lorna's first Danger Room session...
Good God these people really were freaks! Who plays fight club this early in the freakin’ morning?
Lorna couldn’t help mumbling to herself as she tried to wake up. It wasn’t fair! She had been here what a weekend? She was adjusting to a new time zone dammit add on top of that Noris snoring kept her up so she only got three hours of sleep…this was not going to be good.
“Hey umm Lorna right? You’re going the wrong way the danger room is down stairs not up. Come on or we’ll be late and trust me you don’t want that.” Lorna looked up in frustration at…dammit it was too early to remember names! What was it, Roberto, yeah that kid was way too blond for that name, no umm Robert, no…
“Oh thanks Bob I guess I’m still a little disoriented.” Lorna said brushing past him into the elevator.
“It’s Bobby.”
“Oh right yeah sorry, not really a morning person.”
“Don’t worry you sorta just get used to it.”
Lorna could only snort as the elevator doors opened.
OH GOOD GOD, my mother sent me to boot camp, power ranger style. They were actually wearing leather, LEATHER! Lorna looked at Bob, Bobby, whatever, at his get up. How had she not noticed that? Lorna began toying with her sweat pants and tank top wishing that God would stop laughing at her long enough to create a hole to swallow her whole.
Bobby looked over at the new girl fidgeting and watched as her face continued to pale. “Hey don’t worry the teachers wont let anything bad happen to you, and don’t worry about your clothes either you’ll get your uniform soon enough.”
“I guess this is a bad time to mention I’m a vegetarian and against the slaughter of animals?”
“We could always make it out of green spandex.”
“Bring on the cow carcass.”
Bobby merely chuckled as he walked away towards Amara. Lorna looked around. She knew she was at a school for mutants but this was the first time she had seen another student using their powers, well besides on TV. That and they were all talking all at once, telling jokes, yelling insults.
Lorna clutched at her chest as she felt her throat closing and a panic attack rising. She shouldn’t be her she should be in bed, her mom should be getting ready for work and burning something on the stove. She should be in
“Alright now that everyone has so kindly graced us with their presence, lets get started.” The short fuzzy man yelled. “You Green girl get over here. Don’t think you get out of this because you’re new. Alright kids you have one goal, don’t die.”
Lorna swallowed as she watched the room change shape. All noise disappeared; she was looking but not seeing. Blind panic gripped her as she stood paralyzed. Teachers, students all moved around her but she didn’t notice. Suddenly she saw a metal rod flying toward her. Lorna slowly lifted her hands and pushed. Nothing, the metal was still coming at her, she tried again. Her powers weren’t working! The girl who controls metal was going to die kabob style. The rod kept zooming closer and closer.
Her feet weren’t working. Lorna raised her hands again and screamed, heaving her whole body forward. A magnetic wave surged forward knocking everyone over and sending everything, and everyone metal to the far wall. Even various chunks of the danger room wall fell victim.
“God Dammit you fungus haired bitch stop flinging me onto people!” Lorna looked over to the wall where Nori was struggling to release her hands from their position on the Tin Mans thighs to no avail. Everything metal was glued against the wall refusing to budge.
Lorna looked over to the sound of laughter as Ali and Julian clutched each other for support. “Petey there is no reason to ever be that desperate for some lovin man.” Julian shouted in hysterics.
Collosus had never been more thankful that the metal could hide a blush.
Lorna could only stare as the students around her slowly getting up and looking at her with a mixture of amazement and agitation.
“Fuck Frost is it so much to ask for that you bring in a normal mutant for once. Seriously some kid whose biggest problem is math and some god damn spilt juice or something? But no, you have to bring in the special ones don’t you.” Emma looked around for the voice. She looked up and smiled at the sight of Wolverine glued to the ceiling a metal shard inches away from mini-Wolverine.
“Miss Dane if you will kindly release Wolverine and your fellow classmates. Gently if you can I wouldn’t want them to get squashed after all.”
Lorna looked over to the wall, her chest still hurt and it was all she could do not to run crying from the room. She raised her hands and breathed in, using all her concentration releasing the metal on the lower wall. Nori and Pitor rushed forward away from the pile. Lorna began focusing her energy on the higher metal and easing it down when she lost focus and the metal, including Wolverine, plummeted to the floor.
“It seems Miss Dane you need a little more work on your power than I previously thought, private sessions with
“Hell no Frost you’re on your own this time.”
“I’m sorry
“Miss Frost I really appreciate the offer to have Logan tutor me but I don’t want to die.”
Emma merely smirked.
